Shana Knutson joined Woods Aitken in 2022 and is a partner in the firm’s transactional group. Shana focuses her practice on telecommunications, with additional areas of interest in business services and real estate law.
In the area of telecommunications, Shana represents clients on state and federal regulatory and administrative law matters; business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions; and contract drafting and negotiation.
Shana is the former general counsel of the Nebraska Public Service Commission (2012-2021), where she had an emphasis on telecommunications regulatory matters. Her knowledge of both Nebraska and federal telecommunications law is a strength of the firm’s telecommunications practice.
During her time at the Nebraska Public Service Commission, Shana assisted the Commission’s efforts in promoting universal service and broadband deployment, including state and federal grant projects. Shana was a State Member of the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service and received the Governor’s Excellence in Leadership Award in 2017.
Prior to her experience at the Nebraska Public Service Commission, Shana was in private practice in Germantown, Tennessee.

In her free time, Shana enjoys spending time with her husband, Jon, and their two girls. They enjoy watching Husker Athletics and going to their daughter’s high school activities.
