Woods Aitken is delighted to announce that Michael D. Matejka, partner in the firm and chair of Woods Aitken’s Real Estate Practice Group, has been named a 2025 Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Summit Hall of Fame Inductee and will be recognized at this year's CRE Summit Hall of Fame Luncheon on Friday, August 22, at CHI Health Center in Omaha.

To be considered for the CRE Summit Hall of Fame, nominees must have made significant contributions to advancing the status, honor, and professionalism of the commercial real estate industry in the Midwest and must exemplify true leadership by inspiring and influencing others within the industry.

Mike is one of Omaha’s most respected real estate lawyers, who complements his practice with additional specialties in business and taxation law. His experience includes real estate development, leasing, like-kind exchanges, and tax planning for real estate transactions. Mike's representative experience includes matters for projects with moderate budgets to projects valued in the tens of millions of dollars. In his career, this adds up to hundreds of millions of dollars in project value. Representative projects include shopping centers, historic rehabilitation projects, mixed-use developments, apartments, industrial properties, affordable housing projects, and more.

Mike is an active member of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Real Estate Practice Guidelines Committee and is a member and past chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section. He has authored articles on Real Estate Law for The Nebraska Lawyer and was recently a Co-Editor of Nebraska State Bar Association’s publication, Nebraska Title Standards, and Co-Editor of Nebraska State Bar Association’s 2017 Nebraska Real Estate Practice Manual, commonly known as the Red Book. Mike is also a frequent presenter on real estate law topics.

Mike is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), the preeminent association of commercial real estate lawyers, focused on service to clients, colleagues and the profession. Membership, following a rigorous screening process, is by invitation only to lawyers who are “distinguished real estate practitioners and who have contributed to the improvement of real estate law through a combination of speaking, writing, teaching, and serving on relevant boards and commissions.”

His accolades include a Band 1 ranking in Chambers USA for his work in Real Estate Law, being named to “The Best Lawyers in America” in the fields of Corporate Law and Real Estate Law, Great Plains Super Lawyers for Real Estate Law, and he holds the prestigious AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest level of professional excellence.
