Woods Aitken is delighted to announce that Audrey R. Svane has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF).
The ABF Fellows program is a global honorary society that recognizes attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. ABF Fellows hail from nearly 40 countries and hold a wide variety of influential roles. Membership is limited to just one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Members are nominated by their peers and selected by the ABF Board.
Audrey is a partner in the firm’s litigation group and her practice includes construction law, commercial litigation, and product liability and personal injury claims. As part of Audrey’s unique practice, she counsels and advocates for clients dealing with serious injuries and families that have experienced traumatic loss. She has advised and represented clients in civil cases in various state courts, federal courts, mediation, arbitration, and on appeal. Audrey also provides general risk management strategies to general contractors and subcontractors on a variety of construction-related matters, including drafting and analysis of contracts and claim preparation. She speaks regularly on construction-related topics to various trade groups and is a contributing author to the Nebraska Chapters of the State-By-State Guide to Architect, Engineer and Contractor Licensing (2nd edition), and State-by-State Guide to Design and Construction Contracts and Claims (2nd edition). Audrey is also an adjunct professor of Pretrial Litigation and Construction Practice at the University of Nebraska College of Law, her alma mater.
In addition to her practice, Audrey is dedicated to serving the community through service, pro bono work, and volunteerism.
Audrey is a graduate of Leadership Lincoln Class XXXV, board member for Legal Aid of Nebraska, volunteer attorney for the Lancaster County Tenant Assistance Project, and a Platinum Advocate for the Nebraska Lawyers Foundation. Audrey received a Nebraska State Bar Association (NSBA) Visionary Award in 2024. The NSBA Visionary Award recognizes attorneys for their service to further the mission of the NSBA or their dedication to programs sponsored by the Nebraska Lawyers Foundation.
