The National Law Journal Names Woods Aitken to 2016 Elite Trial Lawyers Report

Woods Aitken is honored to announce that the firm has been named to The National Law Journal’s 2016 Elite Trial Lawyers report.  This distinction recognizes “law firms that have achieved high-dollar recoveries for clients and that did some of the most creative and significant work on the plaintiffs side.”  For inclusion on the list, rankings are based on verdicts and settlements with disposition dates between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2016.

Firms on the Top 50 list also had to meet these qualifications:

  • Have a total of more than $40 million in awards during this period.
  • Have four or more cases totaling more than $15 million in awards during this period.

In 2016, following a four-week trial, an Omaha jury awarded client Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. $108.9 million in a contractual indemnity and negligence case arising out of a ConAgra plant explosion.  The award, more than double the largest in Nebraska history at the time, was identified by NLJ as one of the top verdicts of the year.
