Laurel Stoncius helps employers, HR teams, and business owners navigate the day‑to‑day challenges of managing people and property. Her practice focuses on employer‑side labor and employment counseling, HR compliance, and commercial real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on helping businesses prevent problems before they escalate into litigation or regulatory exposure.
Licensed in both Nebraska and Colorado, Laurel works closely with employers across both states to provide clear, practical guidance on issues such as employee discipline, terminations, wage‑and‑hour compliance, accommodations, employee handbooks, and workplace investigations. She also advises clients on the labor and employment components of business transactions, including due diligence, buyouts, workforce integration, and risk mitigation in mergers and acquisitions.
In her real estate practice, Laurel assists clients with commercial real estate sales and acquisitions, commercial leasing, and property‑related compliance, bringing a detail‑oriented and solutions‑driven approach to each matter.
Laurel earned her J.D. with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She received the Excellence in Legal Writing Award, the Foster Academic Excellence Scholarship, and seven CALI Excellence for the Future Awards. She also served Spanish‑speaking clients as a student attorney in the Immigration Clinic, leveraging her bilingual fluency to expand access to legal services.

Beyond the Law
Laurel enjoys a variety of hobbies. She is a competitive pickleball player who regularly plays in recreational groups in both Lincoln and Omaha and competes in local tournaments. Also, she is an avid coffee lover who enjoys the art of brewing a perfect cup of espresso! Prior to law school, Laurel had several unique experiences; she taught high school Spanish in Texas, interned for an international nonprofit in Guatemala, and worked three seasons at a sockeye salmon fishery in Naknek, Alaska.
