James Overcash practiced law with Woods & Aitken from 1987 to 1992 with an emphasis in construction law, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. From 1992 to 2002 James occupied positions of general counsel and chief financial officer in the construction industry. He rejoined Woods & Aitken in 2002 representing clients in telecommunications, commercial and business matters. His focus is providing legal services to businesses and representation of clients primarily before the administrative agencies and commissions, and the United States Bankruptcy Court.
James also provides counsel and review of pending legislative bills and administrative rules. Additionally, he has experience at lecturing and providing seminars on bankruptcy and construction related topics before client and industry groups. These topics have recently included sales tax on construction labor, the effect of the 2006 Bankruptcy Act and general bankruptcy education.
