Gerdes, Gude Join Woods & Aitken
Erin L. Gerdes and Sara L.Gude have joined the law firm of Woods & Aitken LLP as associates. Gerdes, joined the Firm’s Lincoln, Nebraska office, will work primarily in the Firm’s Litigation practice area. Gude will work in the Banking and Financial Institutions and Estate Planning/Trusts practice areas in the Firm’s Omaha, Nebraska office.
Gerdes graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Honors program in 2005, where she was a Regents and Peter Kiewit Scholar. In May 2008, Gerdes received her J.D. with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska Lincoln-College of Law.
During law school, Gerdes was editor-in-chief of the Nebraska Law Review and a member of the 2007-2008 National Moot Court team. In addition, she received the Guy Cleveland Chambers Gold Medallion for Highest Grade Point Average in the Class of 2008 and was named to both the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers. Gerdes also received the Medal of Excellence from the American Bankruptcy Institute as well as numerous CALI Excellence for the Future awards.
“In addition to her academic resume, what impressed us about Erin was her ability to empathize with clients and her drive to help solve their problems,” said Paul Schudel, a managing partner in the Woods & Aitken’s Lincoln office. “She’s an outstanding addition to the Firm.”
Sara Gude is a Harlan, Iowa native and a 2006 summa cum laude graduate of Creighton University, where she was an Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Scholar and member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Gude graduated magna cum laude from Creighton University School of Law in 2008. She served as editor-in-chief of Creighton Law Review and was named a Moot Court Problem Director. Her honors include several CALI Excellence for the Future Awards and membership in Alpha Sigma Nu.
According to Wm. Lee Merritt, a managing partner in the Firm’s Omaha, Nebraska office, “Sara is already proving herself a great member of our team. Our clients provide us with a number of different challenges; Sara’s enthusiasm and intellect have helped her rise to meet each one.”

Mihulka Joins Woods & Aitken, Continues Firm's
Expansion of Real Estate and Financial Practice Areas
One of only two Nebraska-based Fellows in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, Frank J. Mihulka has
joined the Omaha office of Woods & Aitken LLP. Mihulka, an Omaha native and Creighton University graduate, will put his 25 years
of legal expertise to work for the Firm's real estate, banking and financial, agricultural and business entity clients.
According to Wm. Lee Meritt, a managing partner in Woods & Aitken's Omaha office, "We're thrilled Frank has
chosen to join our firm. His legal experience and reputation speak for themselves. His commitment to the Omaha business community
and his local roots are reflected in the quality work he does each day."
After graduating cum laude from Creighton University Law School in 1983, Mihulka served as a clerk for the
Honorable Albert G. Schatz, United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Mihulka then practiced law in Phoenix,
AZ, before returning to Nebraska in 1986 where he practiced with another firm before joining Woods & Aitken. As a fellow in
the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, Mihulka is considered to be among the country's best attorneys in lending
transactions secured by real estate and related practice.

Woods & Aitken Relocates Omaha Office
Woods & Aitken LLP recently relocated the Firm's Omaha offices in response to continued growth.
The new offices, which are in the same centrally-located Omaha office building, will enable the Firm to maintain
the same high level of service for its clients, while allowing for seamless expansion as business continues to increase.
"Our recent move is a testament to the trust our clients have shown us," said Wm. Lee Merritt, the Omaha Firm's
managing partner. "It's more than the growing services we're able to provide to our existing client base, but also the referrals
we receive from those clients and the resulting new relationships that necessitated the move."
The office, which started in 2004 with two attorneys, quickly gained an exceptional reputation
within the Omaha legal community. The office boasts six attorneys today, with plans to add more attorneys and
staff as business continues to prosper. Merritt added, "The entire firm is proud to be a part of the Omaha business community."

Woods & Aitken Selected to Author Nebraska
Construction Law Book
July 11, 2007 Lincoln, NE — Kerry Kester, Craig Dirrim and Kory George,
attorneys specializing in
construction law for Woods & Aitken, have been selected to author the definitive
resource book on construction law in Nebraska. These attorneys were recognized as
leaders in Nebraska construction law because of their ongoing practice, as well as
their active involvement in the construction industry.
"It's an honor and a huge responsibility to be chosen to author such an important
resource," said Joel Heusinger, a managing partner and specialist in Woods &
Aitken's construction law practice area. "It speaks very highly of Kerry, Craig
and Kory's commitment to the construction industry, their clients and providing
outstanding legal work."
The State Construction Law Book for Nebraska will be one of 50 authored by each
state's preeminent construction legal experts. Once published, it will become the
trusted resource for construction companies statewide that want a quick reference
for Nebraska's construction laws. It will also be studied by those new to building
in Nebraska that want a resource to help them operate effectively. The Nebraska
Construction Law Book is scheduled to be published by the end of 2007.
